FT. ATKINSON - John F. Wittenburg, 66, Fort Atkinson, formerly of Sumner and Waucoma, died July 18, 2002 at his home.
John Frederick Wittenburg was born Oct. 11, 1936, the son of Albert and Leota (Koehler) Wittenburg, on a farm in Banks Township, Fayette County. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1955. He worked for the railroad for awhile and also worked construction as a block layer. John enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting and helping his friends.
Survivors include one brother, James (Betty) Wittenburg, Sumner and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Marion Guenther and brother-in-law, Robert Guenther.
Graveside Services were 3 p.m. Monday, July 22 at Wilson Grove Cemetery, Sumner with Rev. John Sorenson presiding. Family members were casketbearers.
Arrangements were by Bumham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union.
