Sterling, Ill. - Howard J. Hageman, age 81, of Sterling, Ill. died Tuesday evening, Jan. 16, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 20 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, Ill., with Rev. Richard Russo officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sterling.
Howard was born March 2, 1936, in Fort Atkinson, Iowa to Andrew and Marie (Tekippe) Hageman. He married Doris Brannon on June 5, 1962, in Lourdes, Iowa.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1954-1957. Howard worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. for 24 years, until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, golfing, playing cards and telling stories. Howard was a graduate of Calmar High School in Calmar, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Sterling; his children, Sherry (Gene) Rosengren of Rock Falls, Larry (Sue) Hageman of Dixon, Ill., Ruth (Chris) Montino of Sterling and Rose (Jeff) Stauter of Dixon; his grandchildren, Megan, Shawn and Bree Rosengren, Matt, Kate and Rachel Hageman, Logan and Kevin Montino and Madeliene, Lizzy, Thomas, and Nathan Stauter; a sister, Carolyn Laidley of Oklahoma; and two brothers, Herb (Carol) Hageman and Dave (Nancy) Hageman of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Myles and Don Hageman.
