Oda Lensing, age 96, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 2351 County Road B32, Festina, IA, with Rev. Robert Gross presiding. Burial will be in Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Festina Parish Center in Festina, IA and also after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the church.

Oda Theresa (Holthaus) Lensing was born on March 14, 1921 on the family farm near Festina, IA to Joe and Anna (Schmitt) Holthaus. She attended St. Mary’s School in Festina. Oda married Jerome Lensing on September 24, 1940 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina. Together they had thirteen children. Oda was a patient and kind woman, liked to golf and enjoyed bird watching, doing puzzles, hiking, traveling to Arizona, visiting with friends and especially enjoyed raising her family.

Oda’s survivors include eight sons: Terry (Shirley) Lensing, Madison, WI; Donnie (Mary Lou) Lensing, Decorah, IA; Carol (Judy) Lensing, Decorah, IA; Marcellus “Buzz” (Peggy) Lensing, Decorah, IA; Jerome (Marilyn) Lensing, Jr., Davenport, IA; Gerard “Tubby” (Christi) Lensing, Tucson, AZ; Bill Lensing, Tucson, AZ and Chuck (Peggy) Lensing, Decorah, IA. Two daughters: Mary Ann (Terry) Wenthold, Festina, IA and Annie (Bob) Price, Tucson, AZ. One daughter-in-law: Doris Lensing, Festina, IA. Thirty-two grandchildren: Jeff (Cathy) Lensing, Chris (Tammy) Lensing, Cory Lensing & Andy (Kristi) Lensing; Faith (Jim) Gribben, Hope (Shawn) Breitsprecher, Martin (Lisa) Lensing, Charity (Jeff) Kuboushek & Peter (Shannon) Lensing; Elizabeth (Jeremia) Goldberger & Amy Lensing Tate; Jennifer (Charles) Jenkins, Holly (Jeremy) Olsgard & Ben (Holly) Lensing; Eric (Amy) Lensing & Jason (Cheri) Lensing; Patrick (Stephanie) Lensing & Mindy (Bill) Lensing; Nathan Lensing; Katie (Oscar) Garcia; Joel Wenthold, Ryan (Amy) Wenthold, Jacob Wenthold; Terra (Tim) Kuennen; Nicole, Danielle & Tanner Lensing; Tasha (Chad) Geyer & Benea Price; Brelynn & Bryce Lensing. Fifty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Three sisters: Esther Timp; Decorah, IA; Alice Scheidel, Decorah, IA and Delores (John) Meyer, Calmar, IA. Sister-in-law: Sandy Holthaus, Calmar, IA.

Oda was preceded in death by her husband Jerome in 2006. Daughter: Susan Lensing in 1970. Sons: Robert “Petey” Lensing in 2004 and Dean Lensing in 2015. Great grandson: Nathan Ray Lensing. Parents: Joe and Anna (Schmidt) Holthaus.
