Marie Huber, age 94 of New Hampton, IA passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 with all eight of her children taking turns at her bedside since a stroke on December 23.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, IA with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA with a 7:00 PM Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Friday, January 5, 2018. Online condolences for Marie's family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com . Memorials may be directed to the family.

Marie P. Huber was born April 30, 1923 to Joseph and Mary (Hackman) Dietzenbach in Ft. Atkinson, IA. She attended St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas to the eighth grade. On May 25, 1948, Marie was united in marriage to John N. Huber at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple made their home in New Hampton where they raised their eight children; Lowell, Mary Jane, Mary Ann, Virginia, John, David, Clair and James. Marie took pride in being a homemaker and made sure she taught her children the Ten Commandments and instilled a strong work ethic. When the kids were grown, Marie went to work outside the home at Sara Lee, where she worked for quite some time.

Marie was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, needle work, baking, putting puzzles together, and playing cards. She also enjoyed traveling, going on mission trips and making a pilgrimage to Rome, where she and John met Pope John Paul II and had a Rosary blessed.

Marie is survived by her eight children; Lowell (Donna) Huber of Cresco, IA, Mary Jane (Gary) Douglas of New Hampton, Mary Ann Flatjord of New Hampton, Virginia Ashford of Cresco, John G. Huber of New Hampton, David Huber of Rochester, MN, Clair (Dorothy) Huber of New Hampton and James Huber, also of New Hampton; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Urban (Lacy) Dietzenbach of Cresco, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, John N. Huber in 2006; five brothers, two half-brothers; one sister; and two half-sisters.
