Elaine Susanne Bolson, 75, of Decorah, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at her home after a prolonged illness with cancer. At Elaine’s request, there will be no memorial service.

She was born Jan. 11, 1942, the daughter of Clifford and Eunice (Vail) Noecker. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1960, and lived in the Decorah area her entire life. She was united in marriage Nov. 12, 1960, to Gaylen Bolson. They enjoyed over 55 years together.

She worked at Decorah State Bank for 12 years. She then worked alongside her husband after they started their own business.

Elaine was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1974. She loved her God, Jehova. She had a strong faith in the Bible’s promises, and had a sure hope of the resurrection (John 11:25).

Elaine also enjoyed reading, music and nature; and she loved animals, especially dogs.

Elaine dearly loved and cherished her family and proved to be a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.

Elaine is survived by her son, Wade (Julie) Bolson; daughter, Ann Bolson; grandchildren, Emily Bolson and Jonathan Bolson; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and –nephews, cousins and close friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylen Bolson; parents, Clifford and Eunice (Vail) Noecker; sister, Marilyn (Ronald) Bloxham; sister, Cheryle (Leo) Linnane.

The family would like to thank the caring and supportive doctors, nurses, other staff and volunteers (including the beloved therapy dogs) of Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis. and Decorah, and Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice. Thank you for helping Elaine through every step over the last few years.
