Barry G. Hughes, 69, of Frankville, Iowa died Thursday, December 07, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa. Barry Gene was born March 11, 1948 to Dickie Neal and Dolores Arlene (Krambeer) Hughes in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized at his home in Frankville, Iowa and was confirmed on January 1961 at Community Presbyterian Church in Frankville, Iowa.
Barry attended grade school through the sixth in Frankville and graduated from Postville High School in 1966. He joined the United States Marines and proudly served two tours in the Vietnam War. After returning from the Marines, Barry attended Upper Iowa University for two years.
Barry was united in marriage with Marsha Schroeder on April 30, 1977. He was the sales manager for Huxtable Electric in Lawrence Kansas for fifteen years, coached football at Haskell Indian University for three years and was head of USA wrestling for two years. Barry moved back to Postville and farmed until 2013. He was active in wrestling and football and coached PeeWee wrestling. Barry enjoyed golfing, flower gardening, hunting, fishing, cooking and dancing. He loved coaching children.
Barry is survived by his two daughters, Andrea (Dan) Krause of Pardeeville, Wisconsin and Kassie (Mike) Foltz of Frankville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Hannah and Gage Krause; his mother, Dolores Hughes of Frankville, Iowa; two sisters, Jerrine (Paul) Arney of Frankville, Iowa and Colleen (John) Finger of Frankville, Iowa; four brothers, Mark (Penny) Hughes of Lawrence, Kansas, Clifford Hughes of Newton, Iowa, Teddy T (Susan) Hughes Sr. of Postville, Iowa and Jeffrey Hughes of Rosebud, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Hughes on May 17, 1997; father, Dickie Hughes; and one grandson, Maxwell Hughes.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Frankville Community Presbyterian Church, Frankville, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Frankville Community Presbyterian Church, Frankville, Iowa with Rev. Gary Catterson as the Officiant.
Burial with Military Rites will follow at Frankville Cemetery, Frankville, Iowa.
