Donald F. Deeny
WAUCOMA - Donald F. Deeny, 80, Waterville, MN, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the Waseca Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville with Rev. Michael Ince officiating.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Waterville.
Visitation was Sunday, April 1 from 4-8 p.m. at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville with a 5 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary and also from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Donald Francis Deeny was born August 24, 1920 in Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of Francis and Loretta (Nienhaus) Deeny. He was raised on a farm in Winneshiek County and graduated from Waucoma High School in 1939. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seabee. He married Corina Bodensteiner on Sept. 12, 1944 in St. Lucas. Following his discharge, Donald returned home to farm in northeast Iowa and owned a feed and portable milling business until 1967 when they moved to Waterville, MN. He worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for 18 years until his retirement in 1985.
Donald enjoyed reading, carpentry, traveling and visiting family. Hie was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion in Iowa, the Waterville VFW and Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Corina, Waterville; six sons, David (Joan) Deeny, Rapid City, SD, Joseph (Anna) Deeny, Bellingham, WA, John Deeny, Michael Deeny (Chieko Sakamoto), Apple Valley, MN, James (Sarah) Deeny, Maplewood, MN and Mark (Celeste) Deeny, Bar Harbor, ME; five daughters, Carole Carnahan (Jim Neubecker), Fort Collins, CO, Susan (Jim) Rubis, Fairfield, Jeanne (Frank) Comstock, Waseca, MN, Mary (Bruce) Mathieu, Kahuku, HI and Linda Wojciak, New Brighton, MN; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard (Helen) Deeny, Waucoma and Cornell (Laura) Deeny, Eagle Grove; four sisters, Patricia Balk, Calmar, Marcella (Jake) Stallman, Fairfax, Germaine (Jim) Gibney, Newhall and Marion (Chuck) Broghammer, West Union.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Charles Deeny.
