Linus R. Wenthold, 83, of Sleepy Eye, Minn., died Nov. 24, 2017, at his home. Visitation was Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church. Service is at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth, Thursday, Nov. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online Condolences may be left at sturmfh.com.

Linus Raymond Wenthold was born April 7, 1934, in Winneshiek County, the son of Henry J. and Margaret (Kleve) Wenthold. He grew up in rural Ossian and attended school through the 8th grade. He married Anna Riha at Ft. Atkinson. The couple was later divorced. Linus farmed and drove truck for many years. Linus loved driving in demolition derbys, trail riding, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Mabel Sportsman's Club, Sleepy Eye Saddle Club and a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Survivors include significant other, Connie Knutson (Sleepy Eye); four children: DeWayne (Jeannette) Wenthold (Kalispell, Mont.), Cathy Peterson, (Mabel, Minn.), Diane Wilder (Mabel, Minn.) and Sandra (Dan) Miller (Port Angeles, Wash.); five grandchildren: Whitney Wenthold (Seattle, Wash.), Jim Peterson (Mabel, Minn.), Bethany (Nick) Moen (Spring Grove, Minn.), Nicole (Tyler) Jensen (Sleepy Eye) and Adam (Heather) Wilder (Mabel, Minn.); seven great-grandchildren: Tysen and Ryland Moen, Kenley, Madelyn and Emmalynn Jensen and Graysen and Tyten Wilder; brothers: Greg, Francis (JoAnn), Ray (Marsha) and Ronnie (Marlene); sisters, Evelyn, Norine (Bob) and Margaret Ann; and his
dogs: Molly, Malcolm and Blue.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edwin (Leona); sisters: Rita (Francis) Wiltgen, Thecla (Oscar) Ott, Agatha (Leo) Burke; and brothers-in-law, Gervase Hanken and Ralph Wiltgen.
