Martha Ann (Seegmiller) Carlson, 69, passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2017, at home in Smithville, Mo., surrounded by her loved ones. A celebration of Marti’s life was held Oct. 21, in Liberty, Mo.

She was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Decorah, the daughter of Floyd and Gertrude Seegmiller. Her father preceded her in death. Marti graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1966. She graduated from Luther College and went on to receive her master’s degree from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. After moving to Missouri to be near her grandchildren, she worked for the Kansas City Police Department, retiring from the Shoal Creek Station in December of last year.

Marti leaves her children, Nicole (Michael) Driver and Josh Carlson; grandchildren: Hayden and Sophia McNallan, Kendra, Konner and Kelsey Driver; her mother, Gertrude Seegmiller; siblings, Linda Seegmiller and Gary (Jane) Seegmiller; nephew and nieces, Jesse Seegmiller, Jenna Kells and Kari Shaw; as well as other family members, co-workers and friends.

Those who knew Marti are grateful for her life.
