Gary Allan Simenson, 81, of Chatfield, Minn., died Aug. 29, 2017, surrounded by family at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, Minn. A Memorial service, with Rev. Carol Shaffer of Seasons Hospice officiating, is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, Minn. Visitation is one hour prior to the service Tuesday. A committal service with military honors will follow Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn. Gary was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Decorah, to Earl and Beatha (Renaas) Simenson. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1954. He then went into the Navy and served four years. He married Ann Paige Indvick Oct. 12, 1960, in Rochester, Minn.
Gary’s hobbies included travel, fishing, and visiting casinos. He also was an avid Twins baseball fan. He worked as a computer programmer for several local businesses including International Transport, Keane Incorporated and IBM.
Gary is survived by three daughters: Cindy Feeser of Caledonia, Minn., Lori (Steve) Winter of Wykoff, Minn. and Shari (Joe) Fischer of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Jody of Chatfield, Minn. and Jon (Maria) of Stewartville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard, of Rochester, Minn. also survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Ann, in 2014.
