Death of Mrs. Daly.
At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thos. J. Burke, in Union Prairie township, Thursday, June 18, 1914, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Daly. She was born in Ireland and had reached the advanced age of 87 years and 6 months. She had been in feeble health for some time and death was due to the infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Daly was one of the early residents of Winneshiek county. She also lived in Cresco. Howard county, where her husband preceded her to the grave about ten years ago. For the past nine years she has made her home with Mrs. Burke.
She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother one son, John W, Daly of Cresco, and five daughters, Mrs. P. H. Kennedy of Lawler, Mrs. R. F. Bufton of Cresco, Mrs. Mary Daly of Decorah, Mrs. Roger Ryan, and Mrs.Tthomas Burke of Union Prairie township, all of whom were at her bedside when she passed away.
Mrs. Daly was a noble Christian woman and lived a long and useful life. She was a good wife and mother, and by precept and practice trained her children in the paths of rectitude, having the great happiness of seeing them grow up to splendid manhood and womanhood. Her life-work was well done and she has earned the reward of life everlasting. May her soul rest in peace!
The funeral was held Saturday forenoon, the body being taken to Decorah where, after requiem mass at St. Benedict's church, it was laid to rest beside her husband in the family lot in the Decorah cemetery.—Waukon Journal.
