Daryl Snyder, age 64 of Alpha, Iowa died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Daryl Dean Snyder was born July 14, 1952, in Decorah, IA, the son of Charles and Velma (Steuer) Snyder. Daryl attended grade school at Turkey Valley and received his high school education at West Union High School. Daryl had a passion for horses and began training horses and rode as a jockey for several years. Daryl was introduced to Kathleen Adams and the couple were married July 24, 1974, at the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye, IA. To this union two children, Danny and Laurie were born.

The couple purchased their first home in Alpha, and Daryl began working for Beatrice Cheese in Fredericksburg. Daryl worked for the company for 32 years. He began as a general laborer and worked his way into a foreman position. Daryl took a position for Shawver Well Company in Fredericksburg working for the company for 11 years upon his retirement in 2015.

Daryl enjoyed coon hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. He spends as much time outdoors as he possibly could. He liked to read and watch westerns and horse races. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their activities.

Daryl is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy of Alpha, IA; one son, Danny (Janet) Snyder of Alpha, IA; one daughter, Laurie (Steve) Miller of West Union, IA; five grandchildren, Ty, Jaden, Wil, Cam, and Dana; one brother, Donnie Snyder of Alpha, IA; one sister, Carol (Bob) Shurtleff of Waucoma, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronnie Snyder.
