She was preceded in death by her father, Melvern Boe (1961); her father, Wayne Anfinson (2000); and mother-in-law, Florence Targgart (2013).
Janelle is survived by her soul mate and husband, Miles; her two children, Derek(Ashley) Christophersen of Gowrie and Morgan(Brock) Grimm of Emmetsburg; six grandchildren: Rhandy, Laila, Uriah, Brock Jr., Ainsley and Axel; mother, LaRue(Ron) Pennell of Grimes; her six siblings and their families.Janelle Renee was born at Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah June 19, 1961, to Melvern and LaRue Boe. She and her older sister were lovingly adopted in the summer of 1963 by Wayne Anfinson following his marriage to their mother. This union was blessed with five more siblings. Janelle was baptized at Springfield Lutheran Church in Calmar and confirmed at St. John’s Stapleton in Waucoma.
In her youth, she was active in 4-H Club as a Waucoma Urbanette, as well as Luther League Softball and attended LYE. She graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1979. She attended NITI Community College in Calmar and received a degree in interior design. She was married to Dwain Christophersen in 1980. They moved to Latimer and were blessed with two children. After several moves, they settled in Pocahontas in 1995. They later divorced.
As a young mother and homemaker, she enjoyed teaching her children life skills through baking, gardening and sewing. These skills are now being passed along to the next generation.
She met Miles McCubbin May 12, 2005, at the Humboldt Dairy Queen on a blind date. They have been inseparable ever since. They were united in marriage Nov. 27, 2005, and made their home in Callender. She transformed their yard into God’s natural beauty with flowers, greenery and treasures she collected and received from family and friends.
As a tribute to our wife, mother and Grandma Janelle, we would like to pass along a part of her world. She loved to share, so feel free to take a plant from her garden or a scrap from her sewing stash.
Janelle loved quilting and gardening, and she especially enjoyed time with family and friends. Being in prayer and the Word of God always gave her peace and comfort, especially over the last 23 months. It was her desire that all would come to accept Jesus into their lives as their personal Lord and Savior.
