Lee D. Gage, 81, of Castalia, IA, formerly of La Porte, IN, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at his home in rural Castalia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4th, at 11:00 AM at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, IA, with Pastor Gary Catterson officiating. Entombment will be at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, IN, on Monday, February 6th; with military honors. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday in Postville at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice, 901 Montgomery Street, Decorah, IA, 52101.

Lee Duane Gage was born December 9, 1935, in LaGrange County, IN, the son of Philip and Goldie (Balyeat) Gage. He graduated from Scott High School in Scott, IN, and was drafted into the United States Army in 1958 and served at Fort Knox until 1964. On December 28, 1958, he married Sarah Leighty in Howe, IN. Lee worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 38 years, retiring as an installation and repair supervisor. He and his family moved several times when he was promoted. In 2002, they moved to the rural Postville/Castalia area. Lee also did some farming in Indiana and in Postville, raising hogs with his son-in-law.

He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. Lee enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, and spoiling his granddaughter Pamela.

Survivors include his wife Sarah Gage of Castalia, IA; a daughter Susan (Glenn) Griffin of Postville, IA; a granddaughter Pamela (Jeremy) Billings of Clinton, KY; two great-grandchildren: Jeremy and Hanna Billings; two brothers Gary and Bill Gage both of Indiana; and a sister Jane (Jack) VonWormer. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Jeffery Gage; a brother Robert Gage; and two infant siblings.

Casketbearers are Glenn Griffin, Jeremy Billings, Harold Peck, Lyle Abrahamson, Dennis White, Ed Englehart, Howard Hacker, Allan Shockney, Philip Gage, Mark Zander, and Jerry Land.
