Marylen C. Trappe age 92 of New Hampton, Iowa formerly of Monona, Iowa died Friday January 13, 2017 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton, Iowa.
Marylen was born October 1, 1924 at rural Ft. Atkinson, Iowa. She was the daughter of Joseph and Christina (Kunt) Schmitt. She received her education in the country school near Jackson Junction, Iowa.
On November 17, 1941 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Humpal at Assumption Catholic Church at Little Turkey. Robert passed away on January 6, 1983. On February 24, 1979 she married Harold Trappe. Harold died February 7, 2003.
Marylen is survived by three sons, Robert (Joan) Humpal of Ft. Atkinson, Iowa, Reginald (Nancy) Humpal of New Hampton, Iowa and James Humpal of Ridgeway, Iowa; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Lester (Camilla) Schmitt of Lime Springs, Iowa, Joseph (Kay) Schmitt of Sarasota, Florida, George (Darlene) Schmitt of Cresco, Iowa, Arlo (Mary Helen) Schmitt of Mabel, Minnesota; two sisters, Delores (Norbert) Shileny of New Hampton, Iowa, Joyce (Walter) Mrachek of Cresco, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Schmitt of Edgar, Wisconsin, Wendy Schmitt of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Delores Schmitt of Winona, Minnesota and Darlene Kraus of Stratford, Wisconsin.
Marylen was preceded in death by husbands, Robert Humpal and Harold Trappe; great-grandson, Spencer Brookman and five brothers, Edmund Schmitt and his wife Gladys, Walter Schmitt, Robert Schmitt, Raymond Schmitt and Jerry Schmitt.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez as the Celebrant. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. up until service time at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona.
Interment will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery in Monona.
