Oscar Lundtvedt, 72, of Decorah, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at the Oneota Care Facility in Decorah following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m.
at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. James Glesne and Rev. Bryan Robertson officiating.
Organist was Kathy Murray and soloist Lester Hjelmeland sang "Den store hvide flok." Congregational hymns included "Amazing Grace," "God Be With You," "If You But Trust in God to Guide You" and "You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore."
Casketbearers were David Tweten, Denis Tweten, Wayne Tweten, Neil Hjelmeland, Roger Lundtvedt, Randy Tweten, Brian Hjelmeland and Donald Lundtvedt.
Honorary Casketbearers were Ronald Koester, Dale Lundtvedt, Gary Lundtvedt, Chris Hjelmeland, Mark Lundtvedt and Bradley Hjelmeland.
Interment was in Pontoppidan Cemetery in rural Decorah, and Schluter-Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.
Oscar Gerald Lundtvedt was born August 6, 1929, the son of Gunder and Olga (Skaim) Lundtvedt on the family farm near Decorah.
He attended the Rocksvold Country School in Glenwood Township.
He helped farm the family farm with his parents before moving in 1965 to Winona, Minn., where he worked at St. Theresa's College in food service for 20 years.
Oscar Lundtvedt then returned to Decorah and has been a resident at the Oneota Care Facility for 17 years, where he did part-time work for Camcar.
Oscar Lundtvedt enjoyed collecting clocks and teddy bears and especially looked forward to spending time with his family and celebrating his birthday.
He was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three brothers: Gilman Lundtvedt, Mabel, Minn.; Ernest (Lillian) Lundtvedt of Decorah and Arnold (Margaret) Lundtvedt of Caledonia, Minn.; two sisters: Marlys Schulte, Decorah and Arla (Lester) Hjelmeland of Winona, Minn., several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Oscar Gerald Lundtvedt was preceded in death by his parents: Gunder and Olga Lundtvedt; one sister, Agnes Koester; one brother, Kenneth Lundtvedt; brothers-in-law Norman Koester and Odell Tweten and a sister-in-law, Gladys Lundvedt.
