Ossian, Ia., March 21 –Special: The funeral of Mrs. Nathaniel Banning was held Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Oswald Sandbach of Decorah officiated, holding services from the old home church in Centennial, southeast of Ossian, with burial in the Centennial Cemetery.
Miss Julia Mathilda White was born in Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, July 7, 1857, and came west to Iowa with her parents when a little girl of 11 years. They settled on a farm in Winneshiek County, southeast of Decorah. She married Nathaniel Banning of Ossian, Dec.25, 1870. They moved to Bridgewater, S. D., in 1901, settling on their farm near Conistata, where she lived ever since. She died there March 16, leaving to mourn her loss her husband, two daughters, Mrs. William Spinner of Miller S. D., and Mrs. F. C. Enderogeck of Conistata. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one sister and three brothers.
