Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Canoe Ridge Lutheran church for Jens Rasmussen, 73, Canoe township farmer, who died Tuesday evening, Jan. 28, at his home, after an illness of eight months.

The Rev. Alfred Bredesen conducted the services and burial was in the Canoe Ridge cemetery. The Winneshiek funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were his five sons and one son-in-law; Ray, Lester, Vernon, Ervin, and Marlyn Rasmussen and Casper Sundby.

Mr. Rasmussen was born December 22, 1873, in Norway, the son of Rasmus and Olina Knapstad. He was educated in the schools of Norway.

He came to America 51 years ago and settled in Winneshiek county where he lived until his death.

On April 28, 1909, he was married to Stella Rosendahl in the Glenwood church. They were the parents of the following children: Mrs. Casper (Henrietta) Sundby, Decorah; Ray, Pleasant township; Lester, Glenwood township; Mrs. Norman (Mae) Brynsaas, Pleasant township; Mrs. Russell (Selma) Nelson, Chicago; Vernon, at home; Ervin, Camp Lee, Va.; Marlyn, at home. Two children died in infancy.

Mr. Rasmussen has been a member of the Canoe Ridge Lutheran church since coming to this country.

Besides his wife and children, he is survived by four grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters: Lars Rasmussen of Decorah; Mrs. Sam (Sophie) Olsen, Orting, Washington; and three sisters and two brothers in Norway.
