Steven Harold Thompson, 68, of Thornton, Colo., passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2016, after complications from a radioactive spider bite that led to years of crime fighting and a short battle with a nefarious criminal named Cancer, who has plagued society for far too long. A memorial service is Friday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. at Erlinger Chapel, 1316 Centaur Village Dr., Lafayette Co 80026. Family and friends will be welcomed after to celebrate Steven’s life at the American Legion Post 22 at 11081 Irma Dr. in Northglenn Co 80233 from 2 to 4 p.m.

His family only knew him as the loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who was always there for you and would always have the right thing to say (even if it was wildly inappropriate). Steven was known for his long, entertaining stories, which he loved to repeat often. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt of his back and offer you a place to stay in a rain storm. He was a generous and caring man who only needed the basic and simple things in life to be happy. He was born June 8, 1948, in Decorah, to Harold Milton Thompson and Ruth Theoline Rude. After completing high school, he left Decorah to serve in the U.S. Army. After leaving the military, he headed west and hung his cape up in Colorado. He became a meat cutter by trade and made it an art. Steven knew his way around the kitchen and was a great cook, with a kind heart who was a joker until the end. He raised his daughters, was a huge part of their lives and will forever be. Steven will always be a super hero to his girls.

Steven is survived by his daughters. Stephanie (Kyle) Hellie, Trish-Ann Thompson; grandchildren; Austin Thompson, Gavin Stuessie, Reiley Stuessie and Skyler Hellie; his siblings: Cheryl Lenguadoro (Gerry), David Thompson (Sharon), Wanda Haas (Jim), Pam Hansen, Douglas Thompson; and several nephews and nieces.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and brother-in-law, Gene Hansen.
