Mrs. W. Coup Dies at Home After Illness
The death of Mrs. W.B. Coup, which occurred last night about 9:30 o'clock, came as a shock to her multitude of friends. Mrs. Coup had been confined to her bed for the past two weeks having been in failing health for several years. Her death was attributed to heart trouble from which she had suffered for the past two years.
Mary Hanson was a daughter of Gustave and Carrie Nelson Hanson, who were well known pioneers here. She was born in Decorah, December 17, 1873, and Decorah has always been her home.
She was united in marriage to W.B. Coup, Aug. 8, 1898, and since their marriage had made their home in this city. They had no children.
Mrs. Coup is survived by her bereaved husband and a sister, Mrs. Julia Holmes. Her parents and brothers, Henry and Louis Hanson, all preceded her in death.
The heartfelt sympathy of a very large circle of friends, who esteemed Mrs. Coup very highly, is extended to the bereaved husband and sister. Seldom have the ties of kinship and companionship brought a trio together more closely than has been the case with Mr. and Mrs. Coup and her sister, Mrs. Harry Holmes--ties that continued to tighten since the death of the latter's husband, valued Public Opinion employee for many years, a few years ago. Theirs was a happy home where consideration for each other was the first great care of each, where hospitality was always in evidence, where friends were always welcomed.
Mrs. Coup and her sister have been active workers in the Decorah Lutheran church, of which both have been members since childhood and her funeral services will be held there Friday afternoon at 2:30, preceded by a short service at the home at 2:00.
