Al Cremer, 71, owner of Niagara Cave, dies Tuesday

Alfred T. (Al) Cremer, 71, prominent Harmony, Minn. businessman, died Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Harmony Community Hospital following an illness of two and one-half months.

Mr. Cremer was president of HE Co. (Harmony Enterprises Inc.) and was well known in the Decorah area for his long assiciation{sic} in the development and management of Niagara Cave, along with Leo Tekippe of Decorah and the late Joe Flynn.

Mr. Cremer was active in many community and civic organizations in Harmony. He belonged to the Harmony Civic and Commerce Association, the Harmony Lions Club, the Gamehaven Area Boy Scout Council, the Harmony Community Hospital Association, the Harmony Development Corporation, and was serving at the time of his death as president of the Central Fillmore County Development Corporation. He also was a member of the Elks Club in Decorah and the Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony.

He served in Alaska in civilian employment during World War II.

Funeral services are today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Nativity Church in Harmony with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, Canton, Minn. Funeral arrangements are being made by Abraham Funeral Home.

Alfred Cremer was born September 17, 1906 in Festina, the son of John and Mathilda Cremer. He had lived in Decorah at one time as well as Harmony. He was married to Rose K. Hauer in Festina November 10, 1930.

Mr. Cremer is survived by his wife; a son Donald, Harmony; a daughter, Dorothea Buisse, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; three brothers, Greg Cremer, Omaha, Leander Cremer, Calmar and Paul Cremer, New Hampton and two sisters, Mrs. Curt (Marie) Rothmeyer and Mrs. Joe (Nora) Vondersitt, both of Calmar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
