Abby Schupanitz Died June 14 at Home in Festina

CALMAR (Special) – Funeral services for Miss Abby Schupanitz, 61, who died Monday afternoon, June 14, in her home in Festina following a lingering illness, will be held Friday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s church in Festina. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s cemetery.

Rev. Albert Nees will officiate. Pallbearers will be six nephews: John Schupanitz of Boscobel, wis., John and Robert John Schupanitz of Clermont, Donald Osweiler of Cedar Rapids, Gene Carolin of Lawler and Carl Schupanitz of Festina.

The remains are at the French Funeral home in Calmar where the rosary was said Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Today (Thursday) the remains were taken to the family home in Festina and rosary will be said there at 8 o’clock tonight.

The deceased was born in Festina June 27, 1892, daughter of the late John and Emily Dessel Schupanitz. She received her education in St. Mary’s parochial school in Festina. She was a member of the Rosary society.

Surviving are three sisters and two brothers: Miss Rose Schupanitz, Mrs. J. P. (Alvina) Etteldorf, Mrs. Adolph (Winifred) Bullerman, and Hugo Schupanitz, all of Festina; and Robert Schupanitz of Clermont.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

NOTE: Her gravestone shows year of birth as 1894.
