Dubuque Telegraph Herald – November 1, 1949

Calmar, Ia. – Final rites were Friday at the French Funeral Home here for Clarence Wangsness, 51, who died at Mitchell, S.D. hospital. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery at Calmar.

Clarence Donald Wangsness was born April 5, 1898 at Calmar, the son of Ludwig and Tona Wangsness. He was educated in the Calmar schools and on Dec. 12, 1921 married Marie Anderson. They made their home here where Wangsness was employed as a railroad clerk and later moved to Elkader. From Elkader they went to Spencer and Canton, S.D. before Mitchell, where he has resided for 16 years.

Surviving are his wife; his father, of Calmar, and a sister, Mrs. A. C. Vick, of McGregor. A son was killed in World War ii and his mother died Oct 29, 1947.
