Decorah- Lars L. Iverson, 91, the first white child born in Canoe township, died Friday. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon and burial will be in the cemetery at the Hauge Lutheran church, where he served as treasurer for many years.
Mr. Iverson was born Dec. 7, 1852, a few months after his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Iverson, arrived from Norway. As a young man he taught school and served as a township officer. Later he engaged in farming. He has been a resident of Decorah a score or more years.
Married Mar. 29, 1877, to Ingri Severson, he and Mrs. Iverson celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last year.
Surviving children are Louis, Mrs. Nettie Willing, Mrs. H. C. Wohlford and Knut, all of Decorah and vicinity; Mrs. Theodore Hanson, Denhoff, N.D.; Ida Iverson, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Ward L. Tielman and Beatrice Iverson, Minneapolis.
