Roselyn Quam died Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Cresco. Roselyn Mae was born May 13, 1933 in Canoe Township of Winneshiek County Iowa, the daughter of Bennie and Velma (Roney) Hanson. Roselyn was baptized and confirmed at Hauge Lutheran church in rural Decorah. Roselyn attended Springwater School in Canoe township and graduated from Decorah High School in 1950. During her senior year of high school she worked at Ted's Tobacco Store, here she was introduced to Arthur "Bud" Quam by her cousin Charles Yarwood. On October 7, 1951 they were married at the Hauge Lutheran church. They spent their life together in Decorah, except for a brief time in the late 1960s when they lived in Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Roselyn and Bud enjoyed a busy and full life, they enjoyed raising their family, attending the sporting activities of their children and grandchildren, spoiling the grandsons, golfing, bowling, camping and fishing. Roselyn was active in the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corp. as a "Kiltie Mom". Roselyn liked to sew and cross-stitch. She did a lot of baking for her church functions and Nordic Fest. She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah, and was active in the church circle and bible study. On Saturday nights she enjoyed going out to eat with friends from church.
She is survived by her husband, Bud of Decorah; two children: Roxanne (Rodney L.) Zubrod of Cresco and Rodney Quam of Decorah; two grandsons: Ramon and Reece Zubrod, both of Cresco; two brothers: Arlin Hanson and Willard (Verna) Hanson; a sister-in-law, Alice "Toots" (Eddie) Macha, all of Decorah and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and their wives: Kenneth (Helen) and Merlin (Evelyn) Hanson and a sister-in-law, Virginia Hanson along with other in-laws.
