Marie Theresa Tieskoetter, 92, of Ossian, Iowa died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Ossian Senior Hospice, Ossian, Iowa. She was born on January 17, 1923 to Albert and Helen (Ruzicka) Shindelar in Calmar, Iowa. Marie was baptized on January 19, 1923 in Calmar, Iowa. She graduated from Calmar High School.

Marie was united in marriage with Paul Tieskoetter on June 25, 1945 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa. Ten children were born to this union.

Marie worked as a nanny in Chicago, Illinois in her younger years. She was a homemaker for her family on the farm east of Ossian. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and Rosary Society in Ossian and also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed playing cards, games of chance, sewing, painting, gardening and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her nine living children, Lou Ann (Anthony) Langreck of Ossian, Gerald (Jeanne) Tieskoetter of Florida, James (Sally) Tieskoetter of Castalia, Luke (Judy) Tieskoetter of Urbandale, Leon (Sandi) Tieskoetter of Postville, Mark (Cathy) Tieskoetter of Dubuque, Dale (Barb) Tieskoetter of Monona, Paul (Barb) Tieskoetter of Rochester, Minnesota and Jane (Ron) Schmitt of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Dan (Lori) Langreck, Keith (Lori) Langreck, Russell (Tricia) Tieskoetter, Ron (Reagan) Tieskoetter, Tina (Doug) Ragaller, Jennifer (Thayne) Jensen, Jamie (A.J.) Feuerbach, Jackie Tieskoetter, Jill (Rob) Heston, Lance (Jen) Tieskoetter, John (Jenna) Tieskoetter, Bryan (Rachael) Tieskoetter, Dawn (Brian) Long, Aaron (Mandi) Tieskoetter, Brandon (Lindsay) Tieskoetter, Eric (Heather) Tieskoetter, Tracy (Chris) Clair, Angie (Justin) Wyse, Matt Tieskoetter, Michael Tieskoetter, Alicia (Ryan) Tieskoetter, Shaun (Kendra) Schmitt, Melissa (Chris) Diveley, Scott Schmitt, Heidi Schmitt, Stephanie (Joey) Haugen-Baldridge, Sara (Tom) Edie and Scott (Alison) Haugen; thirty-seven great-grandchildren, five siblings, Gertrude Holthaus of Ossian, Joe (Arlene) Shindelar of Le Claire, Helen Zbornik of Fort Atkinson, Al (Frannie) Shindelar of Greenfield and Richard (Joyce) Shindelar of Calmar and three sisters-in-law, Agatha Hoffman, Marie Tieskoetter and Anita Tieskoetter. Also, survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tieskoetter; son, Francis Tieskoetter; daughter-in-law, Lois Tieskoetter; great-grandson, Paul Diveley; two sisters, Frances Shindelar and Theresa Hauer; two brothers, Anslem and Cyril Shindelar; parents, Albert and Helen Shindelar and in-laws, Marge Shindelar, Art Holthaus, Adrian Zbornik, Herman and Helen Hemesath, Joe and Hedwig Hoffman, Jack Hoffman, Joe and Hedwig Tieskoetter, Louis and Irene Tieskoetter, Frank Tieskoetter and Alphonse Tieskoetter.

Visitation will be Monday, May 18, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian, Iowa, with a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 4:00 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour before Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. The Rev. Monsignor Cletus Hawes will be the Celebrant, assisted by Deacon Luke Tieskoetter.

Burial will follow at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian, Iowa.
