Obituary:
Carmel R. Donlan, age 47 of Waterloo and formerly of Cresco died Friday, March 20 in Waterloo after struggling from numerous health issues. Carmel was born August 8, 1967 in Cresco. Carmel attended the Howard-Winneshiek School district; grades K-6 in Ridgeway and 7-12 in Cresco, graduating in 1986. She attended UNI for 3 years and then AIC in Waterloo taking courses in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Carmel dearly loved working with people and throughout her life worked as a waitress in various food service places in Cresco, Oelwein and Waterloo where she lived until the time of her death. In addition to waitressing Carmel loved music, walking, swimming, collecting and giving away Angel figurines and mostly her dear friends. She was a very compassionate loving person who also had a great love for all animals. Carmel is survived by her mom, Dolores Donlan (and friend Charles Marlow) of Cresco; her father, Clement Donlan, of Lime Springs; her brother, Lee (Jun) Donlan, their daughter, Erina of Gig Harbor, WA; two sisters: Annette (Paul) Lorenz, their son John of Cedar Rapids, IA and Valerie Madison of Denver, CO; she is further survived by Charles Marlow’s mother: Kathy Marlow of Cresco; Charles’s children: Mike Marlow (friend Janice) of Decorah, IA, Dawn (Tim) Milligan, of Decorah, IA, Charles Marlow, of Mesa, AZ; and her cat, Mittens. Carmel was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; two uncles: Marvin Donlan and Ken Schmitz along with her best friend, Loyal ‘Bud’ Schult.

9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, Iowa.
