Calmar- A Fort Atkinson high school student was killed and two companions injured Wednesday night in an automobile accident three quarters of a mile west of Fort Atkinson.
The dead youth was Henry Edward Luenberger, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luenberger of Fort Atkinson. Jim Herrold, 18, and Don Hegeman, 16 (or 18), suffered cuts, bruises and shock.
Authorities said the car, driven by Luenberger, skidded on loose gravel and overturned. Luenberger suffered a broken neck. The youths were enroute to Spillville.
Luenberger's body was taken to the French funeral home in Calmar.
(Presented as published. The IGPP shows a gravestone for Henry Leuenberger III, whose year of death and apparent age seem to match.)
