HENRIETTA (Zeien) FISCHER 1908-1990
 
WAUCOMA -- Henrietta M. Fischer, 82, Waucoma, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Winneshiek County Hospital, Decorah.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m., at the Waucoma Federated Church, with the Rev. Ken Rumppe, West Union, officiating. Pianist, Helen Woodard, accompanied vocalist, Paulette Woodard. Burial was in the Waucoma Cemetery, with grandsons, Martin Fischer, Jr., Thomas Fischer, Gary Phillips, Tom Phillips, John Fischer, Lee Fischer, Cory Fischer and Ben Bigler as pallbearers. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, Don Leahy, director, was in charge of the arrangements.

Henrietta Margaret (Zeien) Fischer, daughter of John and Margaret (Conroy) Zeien, was born April 13, 1908, at Clermont. She received her education at the Clermont school.

On Sept. 3, 1926, Henrietta was married to Henry Fischer at Decorah. They were the parents of eight children. They farmed in the Winneshiek and Fayette County area. Henrietta was a cook at the Cliff House, Decorah, from 1969 to 1986. She then retired and moved to Waucoma.

She died at the age of 82 years, five months, and three days. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Emma Kjarland; three brothers, John, Clem and Nicholas; one granddaughter; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Venita (Mrs. Ernest) Phillips, Decorah; Margaret Phillips, Waucoma, and Mary Bigler, Jackson Junction; five sons, Clarence, Waucoma; Martin, Festina; Mitchell, Finchford; Jerry, Fort Atkinson, and Robert, Holland; 39 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Kathryn Newton, Bardstown, Ky., and Wilhelmine Malli, Cedar Rapids; six brothers, George, Earl and Ernest, all of Decorah; Leo, Boston, Mass.; Bernard, Deckersville, Mich., and Thomas, Waucoma; several nieces and nephews.
