Mrs. Mabel Waters, 60, Passes Away on Monday
Mrs. Mabel Waters, 60, a lifelong resident of the Frankville community passed away Monday afternoon at five o'clock following a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the home, and at 2:30 at the Frankville Community church. Interment will be in the Frankville cemetery. The Rev. Wilton Sinning of Armstrong, former pastor at Frankville, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Waters was born at Frankville October 23, 1885, as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Letchford. She received her schooling in the home district and later attended Valder Business College at Decorah.
Upon completion of this course, she taught school until her marriage to Ray Waters on November 25, 1909, when the couple set up housekeeping on the farm of his father, Robert Waters, which has since been her home. Her husband passed away in 1924.
Mrs. Waters is survived by a brother, Glen Letchford, and a sister, Mrs. Fennimore Ambrose, both of Frankville. A brother, Vern, passed on at Waukon July 1, 1945.
Mrs. Waters was prominent in community and church circles and was well known throughout northeastern Iowa as a purebred Hereford cattle breeder, succeeding her husband in this field.
