Herbert Zweibohmer Sr. age 77, of Ossian, IA, died on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 28, 2014 at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 402 East Main St., Ossian, IA, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 27, 2014 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. There will be a Rosary at 4:00 p.m., on Thursday.

Herbert Henry Zweibohmer was born on March 26, 1937, on the family farm outside of Ossian, IA, the son of Hugo and Angela (Bullerman) Zweibohmer. Herbert attended St Francis De Sales Catholic School through 8th grade and then farmed with his dad on the family farm. He married Charlene Novak on September 22, 1973, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. They farmed together until moving to town in 1987. Herbert was known as a tinkerer and could fix anything. He loved his tractors, and enjoyed going to auctions. He enjoyed taking part in antique tractor parades. Most of all, Herbert enjoyed spending time with his family.

Herbert is survived by his wife Charlene, Ossian IA. Four Children: Darlene, Cresco, IA; Harvey (Monica) Zweibohmer, Ossian, IA; Alan (Jennifer) Zweibohmer, Burr Oak, IA; Herbert Jr. (Amanda) Zweibohmer, Calmar, IA. Nine grandchildren: Mathew, Michael and Angela Hageman; Cloey and Hayden Zweibohmer; Daehan and Dalton Harvey; Laurel and Alexander Zweibohmer. Sister: Ruth (Richard) Balk, Lawler, IA. Sisters-in-law: Marlene (Richard) Tieskotter, Fredricksburg, IA; Arlene (Robert) Scott, Wilton, IA; Kathleen (Dennis) Tieskotter, Lawler, IA.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents: Hugo(1985) and Angela(1984) (Bullerman) Zweibohmer. Father and Mother-in-law: Julius (1991) and Georgiana (Riha)(1987) Novak.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ossian Fire Station and Ambulance Service at P.O. Box 1 Ossian, Iowa 52161
