Vivian M. Kimber, age 80, of Decorah, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at her home in Decorah.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton, IA.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, with a Rosary service at 5:30 p.m., and on Friday after 8:00 a.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home.

Vivian Marie (Linnane) Kimber was born September 17, 1934 at her grandparent’s home in rural Bluffton, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Irene (McKenna) Linnane. She attended rural country school through the 8th grade. Vivian was united in marriage to John Kimber Jr. on February 16, 1953 in Hardy, Arkansas. To this union, ten children were born: Mike, Julie, Russ, Pat, David, Cathy, Linda, Mary, Jeff and Greg.

They started a family and she raised her children. Vivian then worked at Wapsie Produce for a short period of time. She did daycare for many years and later provided healthcare for her mother. Vivian loved spending time with her whole family; she enjoyed celebrating everyone’s birthday and liked to travel. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and active in Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) and St. Catherine’s Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John on April 26, 2000; and one granddaughter, Heather Ann Kimber on December 10, 2008.

Vivian is survived by 10 children: Mike and Wendy Kimber of Waukon, IA, Julie and Randy Bloxham of Waukon, Russ and Suzy Kimber of Owasso, Okla., Pat and Vicki Kimber of Ridgeway, IA, David and Maribeth Kimber of Springdale, AR, Cathy and Roger Huinker of Ossian, IA, Linda Blake of Elkader, IA, Mary and Raymond Huinker of Ossian, Jeff and Judy Kimber of Decorah, and Greg Kimber of Castalia, IA; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way; and her siblings: Evelyn (Richard) Brincks of Ossian, Leo (Cheryle) Linnane of Decorah, IA, Ida Louise (Roger) Quam, Sr. of Decorah, IA, Esther Linnane of Decorah, and Dale (Vickie) Linnane of Cannon Falls, MN.
