Kyle L. Quass, 45, of Ossian, Iowa, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at his home. Kyle Layne, the son of Dale and Phyllis (Hamre) Quass, was born April 4, 1969 in Decorah, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Stavanger Lutheran Church. Kyle graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1987. He farmed with his family south of Ossian.

Kyle was a lifelong member of Stavanger Lutheran Church and a member of the Ossian Fire Department. He enjoyed playing softball, fishing in Canada, snowmobiling in Michigan, deer hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

Kyle is survived by his parents, Dale and Phyllis Quass of Ossian; and his two brothers, Kevin and Gary Quass of Ossian.

Kyle was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeffrey, who died in 1963 and Alan, who died in infancy; and his grandparents, Margaret and Pete Hamre and Albert and Esther Quass.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Ossian, Iowa. Rev. Wayne Ellingson will be the officiant.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, Ossian, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Inurnment to be held in the Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Stavanger Lutheran Church or to the Ossian Fire Department.

Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Ossian, Iowa, is helping the family with the arrangements.
