Sheila Iverson, age 60, of Decorah, IA, died on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at her home in rural Decorah, IA, after an eight year battle with ovarian cancer.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Silvercrest Golf Course, 2772 College Drive, Decorah, IA. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling arrangements.

Sheila Lorraine Nancy (Anderson) Iverson was born on October 5, 1954, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1973. Sheila married Greg Iverson on December 30, 1972 at the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church. After graduation, Sheila worked as a floral designer in Waterloo. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for C &C Welding and Waterloo Boat and Marine. She and Greg moved to Decorah in 1999 where she took a job with Opportunity Homes. After 3 years, she decided to take a job with Lang’s Dairy, where she would stay until retirement in 2010. While working for Lang’s, she and Greg also owned and operated the Party Connections store downtown Decorah. Sheila was a very active person and loved to have fun. Sheila had a lot of interests and hobbies that always kept her busy. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, and all kinds of music. She loved to plant and tend to her gardens; both flower and vegetable. Sheila was a very generous and giving lady. She donated sweaters to orphanages, and knitted prayer shawls for some of the cancer patients at the hospital. Sheila was a member of the Big Canoe Lutheran Church and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Waterloo. She loved her family most of all, and will be greatly missed by all of them.

Sheila is survived by her husband: Greg Iverson. Two Children: Andrew (Maggie) Iverson, Iowa City, IA, and Torea (Mike) Short, Waterloo, IA. Two grandchildren: Anya Iverson, 5 years old and Klaara Short, 7 ¾ years old. Two half-brothers: David (Dolly) Pliss, Lake Havasu, AZ, and Roderick Anderson, Eau Claire, WI. One half-sister: Kathleen Anderson, Durand, WI. Father and mother-in-law: Darlene and Stanley Iverson, Decorah, IA. Three sister-in-laws: Diane (Jeff) Turner, Decorah, IA; Deb (Stan Fullerton) Snyder, Decorah, IA; and Kathy (Bruce) Demsky, Waterloo, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents: Thorvald and Clara (Norton) Anderson; Two sisters: Clarian Stetzer and Bonnie Sensky, along with other family members.
