Decorah- L. C. "Smokey" Smock, 68, died of cancer Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, in Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. Services:11 a.m. Thursday, St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at French & Balik Funeral Home, Decorah, where there will be a rosary at 4 and parish service at 7 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; a brother, Robert, and a sister, Jannan Malanaphy, both of Decorah; four sons, Dennis and Michael, both of Decorah, Daryl of Muscatine and Charlie of Plattsmouth, Neb.; four daughters, Linda Christopherson of Decorah, Vikie Enyart of Waukon, Laurie Egan of Monona and Heather Dieschbourg of Schaumburg, Ill.; four stepsons, Randy Ryan of Valparaiso, Ind., Robert Ryan of Waukon, Greg Ryan of Texas and Gary Ryan of Minneapolis; and three stepdaughters, Deb Sivesind and Donna Larson, both of Waukon, and Diane Sommer of Geneseo, Ill.
