Decorah- George J. Rowland, 79, a retired auto mechanic, died Thursday morning at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his father, Roy of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a brother, Hubert of Scottsdale.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. today, First Lutheran Church. The body has been cremated. Sensor-French's in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
