Decorah- Stephen Courtney, 74, of Decorah, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Decorah, by the Rev. Gary Krapfl. Burial: St. Bridget's Cemetery, Bluffton, with military rites. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, Decorah, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and military memorial service at 7 p.m.

Survivors include four sons, Stephen and John, both of Decorah, and Jim and Eric, both of Des Moines; two daughters, Janet Martinson of Winona, Minn., and Laurie Courtney of Des Moines; four sisters, Marge Carlsten of Moline, Ill., Marie Broghamer of Decorah, Louise Nichols of Papillion, Neb., and Elaine Drummond of Houston; and two brothers, Louis of Ridgeway and Vincent of Omaha
