Decorah- Raul C. Selness, 25, whose accidental death from monoxide poisoning occurred Sunday morning, will be buried with military honors Friday afternoon at the Highland Cemetery; services will be conducted by Rev. W. T. Hexom and members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will attend; born Aug. 12, 1920, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Selness; enlisted in the Army Oct. 20, 1942; trained at Camp Adair, Ore., Santa Ana and Garner Field, Cal., Ft. Sumner and Hobbs, N.M.; overseas in August, 1944; attached to 97th bomber group of 15th airforce; awarded four battle stars for European, African and Middle East operations; Air Medal; Distinguished Flying Cross, Oak Leaf Cluster and ETO ribbon; promoted to first lieutenant in October, 1944; returned to United States in March, 1945; stationed at Gore Field, Mont., until October, when he was discharged with the rank of first lieutenant in the reserve corps; leaves parents; brothers and sisters, Pfc. Edward Selness, just returned from overseas; Mrs. Paul Hengles, Georgetown, S.C.; Miss Anna Selness, Kansas City, Mo; Sgt. Harold Selness, Kessler Field, Miss.; Roald and Ruth at home.
