Otto Severson, a retired Decorah farmer, died Thursday, July 3 at the Aase Haugen Home. He was 85 years old.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 7 at 2 p.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Pannkuk conducted the service and Peggy Beatty was organist. Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: William Wilkens, Huber Lennon, Edwin Weber, Everett Severson, Roger Rude and Earl Erickson. Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Severson was born July 25, 1894 in Winneshiek County to Mr. and Mrs. Asley Severson. He attended rural schools of Winneshiek County and was married April 12, 1918 to Cora Olson at her home in Canoe Township. He farmed in the Springwater area, was an Assessor for Canoe Township and an officer of ASC in Winneshiek County. He was on the Church Council and a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Cora. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
