Dolores “Doly” Lynch, age 84, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, June 20, 2014, at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Friends may call from 3:00- 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA,were there will be a rosary at 2:30 p.m. and also after 9:30 a.m., at the church on Wednesday morning.

Dolores Mae “Doly” (Frana) Lynch was born on June 2, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Regina (Shindelar) Frana, on the family farm near Decorah, IA. Doly attended rural country school and a private girls high school in Omaha, NE before graduating from Decorah High School in 1948. Doly was united in marriage to Thomas R. Lynch on October 26, 1949. Throughout her life, Doly was a busy homemaker. She was a stay-at-home mom and provided daycare in her home for years. Later on she worked as a cook for the Decorah Schools. She was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, St. Theresa Circle, The Catholic Daughters of America and the Rosary Society. In recent years she volunteered at Eastern Star Nursing Home, Birthright and at the hospital. Her hobbies included gardening, doing embroidery, exercising, and playing cards. She was a fabulous cook and baker! Above all, Doly was a strong, Catholic woman, an incredible, loving mother, and a wonderful friend.

Dolores is survived by her nine children: Theresa Lynch, Decorah, IA; Dr. Charles (Karen) Lynch, Iowa City, IA; James (Kris) Lynch, Decorah, IA; Mike (Ann) Lynch, Rochester, MN; Dorothea (Roger) Dahlen, Decorah, IA; Tom (Michelle) Lynch, Eau Claire, WI; Mary (Dr. Mark) Koukkari, San Jose, CA; Lori (Victor) Agusta, Cary, NC; and Bob Lynch, Decorah, IA. Twenty-two grandchildren: Brian (Rachel) Lynch, Jeff (Alyssa) Lynch, Jenny (James) McKenzie, Katie Lynch, Emily Lynch, Abby (Drew) Sears, Molly Lynch, Eliza and Elliot Lynch, Mitch Dahlen, Mandi (Joe) Jacquinot, Tori Dahlen, Shannon, Meghan, and Breahan Lynch, Lia and Rhys Koukkari, Sam, Sophia, Bella, and Grace Agusta, and Oliver Lynch. Eight great grand-children: Isaac, Peter, and Nora Lynch, Avery Lynch, Charlie McKenzie, Livia Sears, and Maddy and Jake Jacquinot. Siblings and spouses: Dennis (Darlene) Frana, David (Marie) Frana, Dale (Gloria) Frana, all of Decorah, IA; Vivian (James) Rongner, Spooner WI and Virgil (Janet) Frana, Springfield, MO.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Regina (Shindelar) Frana. Brothers: Francis Frana and Donald Frana. Sister: Diana Frana. Husband: Thomas Lynch. Father and mother-in-law: William and Grace (Donlon) Lynch. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Norman (Ann) Lynch, Anastasia (Jim) Sadler, Mary Utley, Bill Lynch, and Dorothy (Allan) Lynch.
