Obituary.

Mr. Chauncy H. Teetshorn, whose death we mentioned last week, was born at West Troy, N. Y., July 6, 1828, and was brought up in Erie county, N. Y., removing from there to near Whitewater, Wis., in 1838. At this place he was united in marriage with Olivia S. Pardee in 1849, by whom they had four children two of whom and his wife survive him. In 1866 he moved from Whitewater to his late residence in Lincoln township, Winneshiek county, He was a man of honest convictions and pure purposes, with an ardent desire to see the right prevail. Such men make friends and hold them; nor are they without enemies. That the friends largely predominated in his case as usual with such men was amply illustrated during his illness and at his funeral. He seemed fully prepared for the dread messenger, was conscious to the last, and his only expressed regret was in leaving those he loved and for whose welfare he was always solicitous to provide. His four brothers from near Whitewater were present at the funeral, one of them coming before his death, the others in time to attend to the last sad duty for him on earth. The deceased was an honest, conscientious man, a good neighbor, an intelligent citizen, whose death is a calamity to the public, a grief to his family and a sorrow to his neighbors and friends.
