Cyrilla Krivachek, age 87, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church, in Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 -7:00 p.m., on Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m., on Friday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, Fort Atkinson, IA. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Cyrilla Madonna (Geling) Krivachek was born on March 4, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Moellers) Geling on the family farm near Ossian, Iowa. Cyrilla attended rural country school and worked as a nanny in Chicago, Illinois for a few years. She returned and was united in marriage to Edward Krivachek on June 21, 1950, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, IA. They lived in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, and Cyrilla was a stay at home mother, raising her children. After her children were older, she went to work for Rockwell Collins from 1978-1994. She was always busy cooking, gardening, canning and sewing for her family. At the age of eleven, she learned how to quilt and was a major quilter, and always had a quilt on the frame. She was a fierce card player and also enjoyed bingo. She also enjoyed making kolaches for family. Cyrilla was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Foresters, the Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Meal Site. She adored her dog, Sandy and will be missed by her family.

Cyrilla is survived by her five children: Donald Krivachek, Fort Atkinson, IA; Kenneth Krivachek, Fort Atkinson, IA; Norine (Dale) Schmitt, Bernard, IA; Mark (Lynn) Krivachek, Decorah, IA; and Marvin Krivachek, Fort Atkinson, IA. Six grandchildren: Shawn (Carmen) Krivachek, Liz (Shane) Brandt, Aaron (Acacia) Schmitt, Matt Schmitt, Jason (Allison) Krivachek and Gina (Rusty) Whalen. Eight great grandchildren: Brayden & Brinley Krivachek, Kaden & Kesley Brandt, Aiden Whalen, Blake Krivachek, Logan & Jace Schmitt. One sister: Leona Gerleman, Ossian, IA. Two sisters-in-law: and Ida Krivachek, Fort Atkinson, IA, and Marcella Geling along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Cyrilla was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Elizabeth (Moellers) Geling. Her husband: Edward Krivachek on July 7, 1980. One daughter: Karen Krivachek in 1952. One great grandson: Ian Krivachek. Two sisters: Lucille (Hugo) Heying and Elsie (Clarence) Hageman. One brother: Walter Geling. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Elizabeth “Bessie” Krivachek. Two brothers-in-law: Hugo Gerleman and John J. Krivachek. One sister-in-law: Evelyn (Ray) Boyer.
