Mark C. Tangen, 48, of 3207 Mound Ave. SE, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in Monmouth, Ill., due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 610 31st St. SE in Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Steve Pannkuk. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements by Stewart Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Wendy; their two boys, James, 15, and Jacob, 6; his parents, Arthur and Marlene Tangen of Ossian; and three sisters, Mary Peterson of Armstrong, and Lynn Tangen and Joy Tangen, both of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by an extended family who all loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Agnes Tangen and Arnold and Nettie Soeder; and a son, Lucas.
Mark was born Jan. 16, 1960, in Decorah, the son of Arthur and Marlene Tangen. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1978. On Aug. 1, 1992, Mark married Wendy Donald in Lisbon. He worked the past 22 years for Divine Engineering.
He was a member of Sons of AMVETS. He was also distributor of Mannatec products and an avid Hawkeye and Vikings fan. As a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and good friend to many, he will be greatly missed by everyone.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
