Darlyene M. Iverson, age 83, of Decorah, IA, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, IA with Pastor Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah in the spring.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 6 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, and on Friday after 10:00 A.M., one hour before the service, at Burr Oak Lutheran Church.
Darlyene Mae Iverson was born January 27, 1931 in Decorah, Iowa to Leonard and Lillian (Severson) Iverson. She was baptized on March 1, 1931 at Decorah Lutheran Church and confirmed on November 27, 1945 at Hesper Lutheran Church. Darlyene graduated from Mabel High School in Mabel, Minnesota with the class of 1949.
She started working at Reardon’s Produce in Decorah, and then worked at Decorah State Bank for 28 years, retiring in 1993. She was a bank teller and then a student loan officer. It was a position she was very proud of because she gave out loans to students for college, then really enjoyed seeing them succeed in getting their education. Darlyene loved to travel and some of memorable her trips were to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland. She was a member of Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum and enjoyed helping with Nordic Fest, she loved to sing and was a member of Sweet Adeline’s, and she was an avid walker and enjoyed walking all over town. She also loved gardening and flowers and caring for the yard. Darlyene has been a long time member of Burr Oak Lutheran Church and was very active in the Altar Guild and Circle. She became a resident of Aase Haugen Home in October 2007.
There are no immediate survivors.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
