Former Decorah Businessman, M. Woldum Succumbs
Martin Woldum, 84-year-old former Decorah businessman, died at 12:15 Wednesday morning, April 27, at his home at 818 East Main Street.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, the Rev. R. A. Ofstedal and the Rev. B. A. Johnson officiating. Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The remains lay in sate at the church from 12 to 2 p.m.

The pallbearers were Grant Woldum, Norman Woldum Herb Vangsness, Dr. Bernard Howland, Bernhart Sersland and Norman Wilson. Members of the flower committee were Mrs. Lawrence Ruen, Mrs. Alvin Gipp, Mrs. Esther Anderson, Mrs. Bernard Howland, Mrs. C. H. Rosenthal and Miss Ella Ramsey.

Mr. Woldum was born in Borgund, Lærdal, Norway, July 11, 1870. He came to the United States when he was 14 years old and settled in Glenwood township with his parents.

He was united in marriage June 13, 1893, to Jorine Ramsey, daughter of Mons and Gunilda Ramsey, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Paul Koren.

They were the parents of ten children. Four sons and two daughters died in their youth.
His wife, two sons and two daughters survive. These include Morris and Mrs. H. C. (Ruth) Renaas, both of Decorah; Melford of Ridgeway and Mrs. Carl (Esther) Carlson of Cannon Falls, Minn.

Also surviving are two brothers Halvor of Decorah and Nels of Strathmore, Canada, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Martin Woldum and his brother Halvor built and operated the Woldum Brothers Grocery and general merchandise store at Nasset in Glenwood Township about 65 years ago, which they operated for several years.

They also established and operated the Woldum Produce Company and Woldum Auto Company. Another Produce Company, the Mabel Produce Company at Mabel, Minn., was built and operated by them for a number of years.

Martin Woldum managed and operated the Mabel Company for 26 years b y commuting between Mabel and Decorah. Recently, he has been working at the Decorah Feed Store.

He organized and directed the first Glenwood Lutheran Church Choir and the Gauken Singing Society at Nasset in Glenwood Township. He was also a member of the Luren Singing Society for almost 40 years and served for a period of time as its director.

Funeral Services to be Held Saturday for Martin Woldum
Funeral services for Martin Woldum, 84, will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the first Lutheran Church, the Rev. R. A. Ofstedal officiating. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12 to 2 p. m.

Mr. Woldum, a former Decorah businessman, died Wednesday at 12:15 at his home in Decorah. The Steine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
