Madelyn Ann Lansing, 67, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Winneshiek Medical Center. Madelyn was born February 2, 1946 to John and Leone (Diederich) Tilkes in New Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from North Washington High School in 1963 and then attended La James Cosmetology in Mason City. After practicing as a Beautician for one year, Madelyn was united in marriage to Richard Lansing on August 27, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington, Iowa. To this union, five children were born.

Madelyn was a homemaker, helped on the farm and later worked at The Cliff House and NICC. In retirement, she enjoyed family gatherings and watching her grandchildren grow.

Madelyn is survived by her husband, Richard Lansing; four children, Brenda (Jeff) Teslow of Ossian, Joyce (Philip) Waters of Hudson, Sandra (Alan) Lamborn of Nashua and Glen (Angie) Lansing of Postville; eleven grandchildren; five siblings, Carolyn (Richard) Havel of Calmar, Sister Lois Tilkes OSF of Dubuque, Nick (Jean) Tilkes of New Hampton, Jeanette (Bob) Hillegas of Nashua and Grace Pittman of Westminster, Colorado and one sister-in-law, Florence Tilkes of Ionia.

Madelyn is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela; her parents; her brother, Lawrence Tilkes and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Pittman and Brian McClure.

Visitation will be held Monday September 9, 2013 from 3 to 8 pm at the Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home in Ossian, and one hour before mass at the church on Tuesday. There will be a 3:00 pm rosary service on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Reverend Jim Brokman will be the celebrant of the mass.

Interment will be at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian.
