George Severson Funeral Services Held November 20
Funeral services for George A. Severson, aged 51, former Decorah resident, were held Monday, Nov. 20, in the Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, Minn. The Rev. Carl Oslund performed the services. Petersen Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea with military honors at the gravesite.
Pallbearers were Marvin Pestorious, Kenneth Pestorious, Ronald Belz, John Hunter, Harlan Hove, and Agmar Spleiss.
George Arthur Severson was born Oct. 16, 1916, and died Nov. 17, 1967. He was the son of Nellie and Henry Severson.
He is survived by his wife and their six children: Jeffrey, 11; Debra, 10; Susan, 9; Patricia, 7; Mary, 4; and Mrs. Muriel Barth of La Crosse.
Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Nellie Severson, Decorah; a brother, Norman, Decorah; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Garcia, Albert Lea, and Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Belz of Decorah, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry, and three brothers, Arthur, Chester, and Hartvig.
Those who attended the funeral from Decorah were Mrs. Nellie Severson and Norman, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Belz and family; Mrs. Hannah Hovey, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Falck, Sylvan Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Hovey and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Spilde.
Mrs. Muriel Barth and Lynn of La Crosse, Wis.; Mrs. Galin Barth, Bette and Phylis, and Marlys and Kenneth Hovey of Cedar Rapids, also attended the funeral.
