Death of Mrs. Edward Erickson
Mrs. Edward Erickson passed away at her home in Canoe township Saturday morning, after having been in poor health the past summer. For the past week she had been seriously sick. The deceased was born in Norway, July 10, 1847, and came to the United States with her parents when about eight years of age, and had been a resident of this county many years. She was united in marriage to Edward Erickson here in Decorah at Luther College about the year 1869, and the family home has been in Canoe township every since. Eleven children, three daughters and eight sons were born to the union, six of whom passed away. The surviving ones are John at home; Hans, Harmony, Minn.; Engbret, Frankville; Olavas, Canoe and Mrs. Samuel Ellis, near Freeport. The bereaved husband also survives and one brother, Ole Tobiason of Decorah. The deceased was one of Winneshiek county's good mothers and was beloved and respected by all who knew her, and the sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved one who are left to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at eleven o'clock yesterday from the home and at 1:30 from the Big Canoe church. Rev. Tolo officiated.

Decorah Republican, November 1, 1917On Saturday last at her home in Canoe township, Mrs. Ingeborg Erickson passed away at the age of seventy years, four months and seventeen days. Mrs. Erickson was born July 10 1847. Beside her husband, she is survived by five children, Johan at home, Hans, of Harmony, Ingebret, of Frankville, Olaus, of Canoe, and Mrs. Sam Ellis, living near Freeport. She is also survived by one brother, Ole Tobiason, of Decorah. The funeral will be held today at the Big Canoe church. Rev. T.O. Tolo officiating.
