Richard Flaskerud
Richard A. Flaskerud died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville. He was 69 years old.
Funeral services were Oct. 31, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Knoxville, with Pastor John Chadwick officiating. Graveside military honor rites were Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Calmar Lutheran Cemetery.
Richarda Flaskerud was born June 29, 1937, in Calmar, the son of K. Henry and Kitty (Hjelmeland) Flaskerud. He was a graduate of Calmar High School, and was inducted into the U.S. Army in October of 1960, where he served for three years.
He lived with his parents on the home farm north of Calmar. He enjoyed working with radio electronics, singing, and was an active member of a ham radio club, and the Luren Singing Society.
Due to health complications, he became a resident of the VA Medical Center in Knoxville, at which point he joined the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Knoxville. He attended church regularly.
Richard is survived by his brother, David H. Flaskerud of Cresco; his sister, Margaret (Ed) Jaster of Rockwall, Tex.; and by his nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He ws preceded in death by his parents.
