Last rites held for Fred Iverson, lifelong resident
Fred E. Iverson of Decorah died Friday, Oct. 2 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. The retired feed dealer for Bolson Feed Co. was 90.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paul Christenson officiating. Mrs. Paul Christenson was organist and hymns were by the congregation.
Burial was at Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Earl Erickson, Leonard Iverson, Stanley Iverson, Virgil Iverson, Lester Rasmussen and Arnold Thompson. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge.
Mr. Iverson was born April 21, 1891 in Pleasant Township to Tosten Iverson Haugen and Olena (Valle) Haugen. He attended rural schools in Pleasant Township and Valders Business College. He was married to Olga Corson in 1918 and she died in 1945. He was married to Barbara B. Peterson in November, 1946. She died June 19, 1981.
He always lived in the Decorah area. He farmed, hauled cream for 20 years and was a feed dealer for Bolson Feed Co. for many years.
He is survived by two step-children, Violet (Mrs. Herbert Vick) of Mason City and Carola Bordeleau of Riverside, Calif.; four step-grandchildren; 10 great step-children and 29 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, six brothers and five sisters.
